Coyotes Finish Fourth at Summit League Championship in 2022

USD Consecutive Summit League Tournament Appearances Extended to 13

The South Dakota Coyotes women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the Summit League Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced Monday.
USD received 59 points in the poll to sit behind South Dakota State (87), Denver (79), North Dakota State (72) and North Dakota (67). Omaha was picked sixth with 52 points, followed by Kansas City (46), Oral Roberts (41), Western Illinois (37) and St. Thomas (16).

The Coyotes went 16-11 overall last season and placed fourth at the Summit League Championship, their 13th consecutive appearance in the league tournament. USD went 10-6 in Summit League play in 2022.

USD returns all-conference performer Chloe Lamb to the lineup. The junior forward averaged 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last season, earning All-Summit League second team honors. Fellow juniors Kyah Watson and Allison Peplowski also averaged double figures for the Coyotes a year ago, with Watson averaging 11.2 points and Peplowski averaging 10.1 points per game. Watson also contributed 4.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

South Dakota will open the 2022-23 season on Monday, Nov. 7 when they host Dakota Wesleyan in an exhibition game. The regular-season opener is set for Monday, Nov. 14 when the Coyotes host Creighton in Vermillion.
