Emergency Defense Package Includes Funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Urges Colleagues to Advance Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is leading a bipartisan effort to secure emergency defense funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. In a letter to his Democratic colleagues, Schumer announced his intention to bring a national security package to the Senate floor for a vote.
The package includes $33 billion for Ukraine, $1 billion for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system, and $2 billion for Taiwan's defense. Schumer emphasized the urgency of providing this funding to support allies facing threats from Russia, Iran, and China.
Schumer's efforts have received support from both Democrats and Republicans. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has expressed his commitment to working with Schumer on a bipartisan solution.
The Senate is expected to vote on the national security package in the coming weeks. If approved, the funding will provide a significant boost to the defense capabilities of Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
