Auburn Football hires Hugh Freeze as head coach

Freeze led Ole Miss to back-to-back New Year's Six bowl games and three top-25 finishes

Hugh Freeze has been hired as the next head coach at Auburn University, the school announced on Thursday.

Freeze, who spent the last five seasons at Ole Miss, has a 69-32 career college coaching record. He led Ole Miss to back-to-back New Year's Six bowl games and three top-25 finishes.

In 2015, Freeze led Ole Miss to a 10-3 record and a Sugar Bowl victory over Oklahoma State. The following season, the Rebels finished 9-3 with a win over Alabama-Birmingham in the Music City Bowl.

Freeze was fired by Ole Miss in 2017 after an investigation into his personal conduct. He was later hired as the head coach at Liberty University, where he went 34-15 in three seasons.

Freeze is known for his high-powered offenses. His teams at Ole Miss averaged over 40 points per game.

Freeze's hiring is a major coup for Auburn. He is one of the most successful coaches in college football, and he is expected to bring success to the Tigers.
